Does a 5.7 litre Holden Commodore count as a Corvette?
If so I win.
The look of disbelief is what I love most about it. _________________ 2000 Model baleno (esteem) 1.6 Turbo

hahaha, 1/4 mile or closed street action. ;) I'm not at the point of taking V8's yet, unless there is some turning involved. Thats the only place I have beat corvettes and M3's. 8) Straight line I'm screwed. _________________

just the traffic light grand prix.
I live very close to Eastern Creek race track (5 minute drive) but I have only been twice in my life.
I want to take it on a Wednesday night to see what it will do down the 1/4 mile... they have a "drive what you bring" sort of thing for the Public on Wednesday nights. _________________ 2000 Model baleno (esteem) 1.6 Turbo

wow, well try to take a nice video if you can of it. I suggest for a drag race to mount a camera like I do for my races. I mount the digital camera on a piece of wood that fits in between the metal rods for the headrest. It gives you a good perspective, this type of view is good for this type of race. _________________

NICE!!! Way to go damo!! Glad to know that you finally got the car straightened out. Have you got all the bugs worked out of it yet? How did you sort out that smoking issue? I bet it was related to the valve cover breather, right?
Wish you weren't so far away, so we could check each others car out.
give me a pm so we can chit chat.
Nice kill, we make a name for suzukis. |

Yeah, well it is very hard to get off the line quickly due to harsh clutch and limmited traction offerred by the 185/60R14 tyres and without a lot of wheel spin so it is a fine balancing act to maximise acceleration without the undue attention of massive wheel spin... it was close and fairly level but by 3rd gear it accelerates so quickly it is all over.
If you floor it off the line it spins in 1st and 2nd in the dry... It will also spin a bit in 3rd gear when it comes on boost if the tyres are cold.
This method feels quick but I am not sure if it is any quicker than minimising wheel spin... certainly not wise to drive that way on the streets... but I would like to try a flat out start at the drags.
It certainly does need better suspension and more grip but on the other hand the fragile gearbox is always on my mind so I try to avoid harsh starts and wait till it is underway and let the torque do it's stuff.. _________________ 2000 Model baleno (esteem) 1.6 Turbo

Hey itsdamo! No 1/4 mile time as yet? Take it to the track & give us some numbers. I am qurious, you have a T25 turbo, right? I tried to take mine to the track last wednesday, but while on my way there I realised that my clutch is giving some major slipping (on the highway). But around town I don't feel it that much. Anyway the track was also closed that night (after driving 80 miles one way to get there ) Now I have to replace the clutch before I go back. I am not looking forward to tearing down this car, again!
I am seeing 7psi on this T3, I also want to put it up to 9lbs & see what happens. _________________ 2000 Esteem, w/2.0 j20 motor swap. T3 turbo @ 8psi boost. ACT clutch. +++ |
